The Kuba Dunny by Mike Fudge Available Online Now!
Todays marks a special occasion, the very first Dunny production by Denver powerhouse artist, Mike Fudge. to talk a little bit more about this awesome Dunny is our good friend Chris Holt aka The Toy Viking!
Mike Fudge and Kidrobot have joined forces to release his debut Dunny, the very totem-esque Kuba. Having spent time with this figure it’s led me to think about what my own spirit animal would be. After much inner debate I have concluded with great certainty that it is the cat. Now you may say that I am a bit biased because I am the proud caretaker of five of them and my clothes have as much of their shed fur on them as they do original fabric, but here’s my thinking. I love naps, and cats have perfected that to an art form. And like cats, I can also fall asleep anywhere, no matter what is going on. They also love attention on their terms which I’m also all about. Friends are cool and all, but I also like being by myself while still expecting to be invited everywhere so I have the opportunity to turn down the invitation and then be depressed about it. Tell me that doesn’t sound like a cat. Cats also hate rules and will push the boundaries of everything you tell them. They will dance around your precious antiques, look you dead in the eye, and systematically push them onto the floor just cause they want to. They are nature’s ultimate rebel and that speaks directly to my soul.
How will this figure speak to yours? The stylized nature of the design evokes the native art of the Pacific Northwest while taking it in a more modern direction. This is a toy you have to hold in your hands to truly appreciate every detail, as mere pictures fail to do it proper justice. This five inch Dunny comes in the standard grey edition and the ultra limited Kidrobot exclusive white, which gives it a very haunting quality. Both are available right now by visiting www.kidrobot.com.
